Job description
You will manage one or more project teams that will provide the complete technical design for the building structure of a yacht. This includes the hull construction, outfitting and all other exterior constructions. Our client sets high standards for the construction. It must be light and strong, and offer maximum interior space and comfort. No design is the same and you apply the highest quality standards in everything.
Leading a team of work planners and draughtsmen. In doing so, you and your team lay the foundation for an efficient building process. By supplying the right information and working drawings. You also ensure that designs are approved in time by all authorities. You also ensure that suppliers are supplied with materials and systems according to specifications and the planning.
In addition to communicating with your team, you also frequently consult with the other engineering departments. You also manage subcontractors, who deliver a part of the design. In this varied and challenging process, you maintain an overview, control progress and closely monitor the planning and budget. This control and result-oriented work give you satisfaction.
Requirements
You have experience in shipbuilding or yachtbuilding with a broad knowledge of building structures. You are also familiar with the specific challenges of outfitting. You are also flexible and stress resistant and have great problem-solving skills. You can switch effortlessly between details and the big picture. You have a strong analytical and self-managing capacity and are decisive. As a team player, you have good communication and social skills, with coaching qualities. In addition, you have a strong character. We also ask:
- A higher professional education (HBO) degree in naval architecture, or an HTS degree;
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in shipbuilding engineering, managing engineering teams and budget control;
- Broad knowledge of AutoCAD and Rhino;
- Experience with Catia is a big plus;
- Command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing.

No design is the same and no yacht is the same at our client. In the segment of luxury super yachts, they are known for their many applications of the aluminum hull. They build custom and semi-custom yachts up to 80 metres. The combination of engineering and production in one place means that you remain involved in the entire building process. Shipbuilding Engineering is one of the three Engineering departments at our client. The other two are the Mechanical and the Interior departments. In the Shipbuilding department, you will work on the complete technical design. You will also be involved in the entire process, from drawing to handing over to the crew.
